The 15-year-long, $765 million contract not only surpasses every other contract in the sport’s history but also includes clauses which can take the contract up to the $800 million mark. To be more specific, the contract contains a clause under which Soto can leave the Mets if he pleases in 2029. Should he choose not to leave, his contract value will go up to $800 million. Therefore, his average annual salary of $51 million will go up to $55 million annually.
