A few days ago, India won the Gold medal in the Men’s Kabaddi by beating Iran 33-29 in the final of Asian Games 2023, it created a moment of joy and festival for every Indian. This also created a buzz among kabaddi fans for the PKL Auction, who are eagerly waiting to know everything about PKL Auction 2023. The KL Auction for season 10 took place in Mumbai on 9 and 10 October for the match. The two-day-long auction process is certain to excite fans and enthusiasts across the world as 12 teams bet on famous players from India and worldwide. PKL auction 2023 was initially planned for September 8-9, but the changes made by the Amateur Kabaddi Federation Of India to accommodate the ongoing preparation of the Indian Kabaddi Team for the Asian Games 2023. Pro Kabaddi League Auction Format

The PKL Auction 2023 took place at the Jio Convention World Center, Mumbai.  

PKL Auction season 10 included domestic and overseas players who were divided into four categories, including A, B, C, and D (based on base price). The players were further divided into sub-categories such as All-Rounders, Defenders, and Raiders within each category. The base prices for each categories include the following:

  1. Category A – INR 30 Lakh
  2. Category B – INR 20 Lakh
  3. Category C – INR 13 Lakh 
  4. Category D – INR 9 Lakh

Further, the season 10 kabaddi players comprised 500+ players, including 24 players from the two finalist teams of the Khelo India University Games 2023. The salary purse available to each team is Rs. 5 crore, as opposed to the earlier limit, which was Rs. 4.4  Cr.

The PKL Auction 2023 for the 10th session was conducted in Mumbai on October 9, and history was created again by  Pawan Kumar Sherawat, who Telugu Titans signed for Rs. 2.6 Cr, making him the most expensive player in this league. Players Retention From PKL 9

In PKL Auction 2023, there was a demand to retain players from PKL 9 squads. However, the cost of retaining players might impact the total salary purse of the respective franchise. The retention was made across three categories, including Elite Retained Players (ERP), Retained Young Players (RYP), and Existing New Young Players (ENYP). The total number of players that were retained was 84, 22 in the ERP category,  24 in the RYP category, and 38 in the ENYP category. So, the teams could use the Final Bid Match (FBM) card to retain their previous players.

Each of the 12 teams in PKL season 10 will have a minimum of 18 players, with the upper limit being set at 25.
